Region: Vietnam’s tea industry has developed very quickly - she is now the 5th largest tea producer globally, aided first by Soviet assistance and latterly by Indian machinery and knowhow. Rapid growth often occurs ahead of quality
and Vietnam gained a dubious reputation that she is now working hard to recover with premium teas like this Lotus Chun Mee – a traditional green tea scented by wrapping it in lotus leaves during processing.
Leaf: tidy grey (almost silvery) green curled leaf with a slight aroma of liquorice comfits
Infusion – visual: evenly coloured olive green wrinkled leaf – evidence of tight twisting
Infusion – aroma: clean green tea aroma with the sweet liquorice note of lotus leaf
Liquor – visual: pinkish yellow liquor, just a little cloudy.
Liquor – taste: a refreshing astringency and mild bitterness of a good Chun Mee with the nuances of sweetness and aniseed spiciness of lotus leaf.
Summary: an unusual tea but definitely one to try when you are in a “time for something different” mood.

Lovely spicy tea
This tea is good quality with an excellent flavour which is really enhanced by the spicy notes from the lotus. I could drink this all day!
