Made by Ms. Zhao Yuji, owner of Hanming Xuan Tea, located in Puer, Yunnan, China. This is a tiny family tea company including Ms, Zhao, her sisters, and her husband (and during plucking season lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins). Ms. Zhao’s father was a tea maker in one of the old established Puerh companies and taught his daughter his craft.
From a lovely looking cake. So many shades of brown are present in the leaves. There is note of decaying woods to the dry
leaves. I added 4g to the gaiwan, used boiling hot water and did a quick rinse and then more water for an initial 30 second steep. I carried on steeping at about 30’s for four steeps then started increasing a little each round. Again this will go past ten, the liquor will get lighter but it still has plenty of flavour.
Its is thick, soupey and clear though you can’t see through it. The liquor has notes of wet earth, pepper, cinnamon and ruby 18.
