The Uva region of Sri Lanka is located in the East and has a reputation as one of the best tea growing regions in the country. The tea is grown here at heights between 1,500 to 2,000 meters. The climatic conditions make this tea exceptional it is well balanced with strength and highgrown flavour. This one is full-flavoured, juicy-fresh tea and picked in the dry season between June and September. Uva tea is distinguished by a well balanced blend of strength and flavour.

Rather more like BOPF than BOP

It took me a few goes to get the quantity right so that I could have the UVA flavour I was after. On closer inspection I rather think that the grade is closer to BOPF that BOP and this was why I was getting a stronger brew than normal. BOP is really quite hard to avoid some astringency that a GOP1 or FTGOP1 would avoid.

I am still searching for some single estate UVA STFGOP1 which seems to be a rarity on line; perhaps Nothing But Tea could investigate sourcing some of the higher standard leaf teas from Sri Lanka?

Bravo though for at least listing UVA, it is a wonderful region for tea and produces some of the finest teas in my opinion.
